TDOSH V8: The Day Erik and Shawna Became Canon

 Today I am going to share a TDOSH of Chapter 8 of Veritas. I posted Veritas 12 years ago and while some things changed, some things have stayed the same. Like Lile constantly being an inspiration for me. This is from when I posted the chapter 5 of Veritas:

The Why

I actually found this TDOSH last year, I had originally done it in late 2019. I have no idea why I was just doing chapter 8 but since it was mostly done I decided to add some additional commentary and post it.

Chapter 8 of Veritas was published on June 27, 2010 and I also used the blog post to announce my engagement by posting my (now defunct) engagement website. Or as Marcia put it:

I re-skimmed Veritas to be able to write a quick summary and let me tell you it was...painful but I'll always appreciate it for being the primordial ooze that formed everything else I've written.

Now, I'm going to give you a quick run down of what has happened in Veritas to this point in Tumblr fashion:

19-year-old college student Alan Gray sees Sara's face while she and crew are in the East doing A Thing. She kidnaps him, takes him to the West and leaves him in a basement where Jean and Minnow live. They don't give him much info and after a while she finally explains what she is going to do with him:

Sara: I’m going to kill your and leave your body on the Embassy steps as a symbol

*government drops bombs on city to find fugitves*

*Saint grabs Alan and they go to safezone*

Alan: Why not let me die ?

Sara: Because when I kill you it has to be a statement piece and no one is paying attention right now

Alan: Wait....why do you want to kill me again ?

Sara: *philosiphizes about dead husband and state of humanity* yada,yada,yada...oh, and also because my husband uncovered a conspiracy of Western tech companies hiring Eastern workers for their factories knowing the elements they work with are deadly.

Alan: That's bad...I want to help.

Sara: K...oh, also to make money we do contract kills *gives 19-year-old a gun*

*goes back home* *looter threatens Sara*

Alan (19yo who has never held gun): *kills looter*

Sara: Why ? 

Alan: I was aiming for you ? 

Sara: K. Well I owe you now....welcome to the team.

Then they get an assignment from Rayne to kill a Morrisey, a Trade Commission agent who went undercover in cartels so much he decided to just...start his own on the side.

During the mission Dakota, a pimp obsesssed with Minnow, sees them and warns Morrisey. Morrisey escapes but they capture Dakota. 

None of these professional killers can get Dakota to talk but Alan get him to agree to give info about Morrisey by promising Dakota he can have Minnow.

Oh, also the whole Alan-gets-hurt-Rayne-pays-for-him-to-be-healed-now-he-is-eternally-indebted-to-the-cartel thing happens.

And finally: Alan now has amnesia and has no idea who he is !
